GRAPENUT BREAD
Mix and let stand 20 min.: 1/2 c. grapenuts 1 1/4 c. sour milk 1 teas. soda Cream together: 2 T. shortening 3/4 c. white sugar Add: 1 egg 1/2 teas. salt Beat well. Add alternately the grapenut mixture and 2 c. of flour. Bake in 300 oven over 1 hour or until done. (1 1/4 hr.) Makes 1 loaf
GRAHAM BREAD
3 c. brown sugar 5 c. sour milk or buttermilk 3 teas. soda 1 teas. salt 6 c. graham flour 1 c. white flour If milk is not very rich add 1 T. shortening. This makes 3 loaves. Bake in 350 oven about 1 hour.
MONKEY BREAD
4 Tubes dinner biscuits cut into fourths. Roll each in mixture of 3/4 c. sugar and 1/2 teas. cinnamon. Place in greased bundt pan. Bring to boil and pour over biscuits: 1 c. sugar 1 teas. cinnamon 1 stick margarine 2 T. water Bake at 350 for 40 minutes. Cool 1 or 2 minutes and invert bread on platter.
ZUCCHINI BREAD
2 c. flour 1/4 tsp. soda 2 c. sugar 2 tsp. baking powder 3 eggs 3 tsp. vanilla 1 c. oil 2 c. raw grated zucchini 1 tsp. salt 1 c. walnuts, chopped 3 tsp. cinnamon Mix well and pour into greased loaf pan. Bake 1 hour at 350. Also makes great muffins.
CHOCOLATE ZUCCHINI BREAD
3 eggs 1 tsp. salt 2 c. sugar 1 tsp. cinnamon 1 c. vegetable oil 1/4 tsp. baking powder 2 2oz. squares, unsweetened baking chocolate 2 c. zucchini, grated 1 tsp. baking soda 1 tsp. vanilla 1 c. walnuts, chopped 3 c. flour In a large mixing bowl, beat eggs until fluffy. Then add sugar and oil. Meanwhile over hot water, melt chocolate. When chocolate is melted, add zucchini and vanilla to cool chocolate. Add cooled chocolate mixture to egg mixture. Mix flour, salt, cinnamon, baking podwer, and baking soda. Add flour mixture to egg mixture. Add walnuts. Pour into greased and floured loaf pans. Bake in 350 oven for 1 hr, 20 min. or until done. Remove from oven and cool in pans 10 minutes. Invert onto cooling rack. Makes 2 large loaves.
PUMPKIN BREAD
Cream together: 2/23 c. sugar
2/3 c. shortening
Add: 4 beaten eggs
2 c. pumpkin 2/3 c. water
Mix well. Sift together: 3 1/3 c. flour 1 1/2 tsp. salt 1/2 tsp. baking powder 1 tsp. cinnamon 2 tsp. baking soda 1/2 tsp. cloves Add to first mixture. Stir well. Add 2/3 c. nutmeats, 2/3 c. dates. Bake in 2 greased bread pans at 350 for 1/1/4 hours.
