MY HEARTS DESIRE
By Bea Shook
If you should ask of me “what is your heart's desire? Is it money, fame or fortune, fine goods or fine attire?”
My heart's desire is simple Though it's importance is not so But I can tell you simply, for I'd like you to know.
It lies within my children, each one so different so they say, And yet they are so alike in one important way.
For God has given each of them a will of wrong or right, To always trust the Lord their God, And always fight the fight.
So my heart's desire is simple, For each child that's graced our home. It's that they'll always serve our Lord. Serve Him and Him alone.
Then I will feel my heart's desire And will be free from pain. And when I rest, I'll rest in peace For my life was not in vain.
A poem written by Bea Shook, taken from the book “The Cowboy Reader” written by Dillon Shook, her husband. Dillon is the publisher of “Cow Horses N' Quarter Horses” written by George Comfort.
NOTE: This is was written by another mother, but reflects the desire of my heart also.
